“Several years ago, there was a large Civil War reenactment taking place in our state of California. Dusty jumped out of the pasture he was living in, ran across a field of fighting soldiers, and enlisted himself into the Union Army!

Once discovered, some actors attempted to return him home, only to find his owners no longer wanted him. He was then adopted by his current owner and brought to our therapeutic riding program.

Dusty is now a Full Inclusion Ambassador [at B.O.K Ranch]. As our program works on removing the barriers between riders with and without additional needs, Dusty is right there along for the ride. He is a partner to both children and adults. He is patient, trustworthy, and capable. No matter the year—whether it be 1865 or 2020—Dusty can always be counted on to do the right thing!” —Tish D.
