“This horse belongs to my daughter. He is a 2016 Chincoteague Pony born on Chincoteague Island, Virginia. My daughter was diagnosed eight years ago with pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal. She has a LOT of anxiety associated with this as well as other symptoms.

She likes to spend a lot of time with him, especially when she is feeling very anxious or a having a flare due to her chronic illness. He gives her a sense of calmness and  seems to just know she needs him. She enjoys grooming him for hours on end; he seems to be the biggest ham ever and just lets her do so.

He has made all the difference in the world to her. She had to write an essay to get him and she wrote about her chronic illness ! She has been able to raise and train him since he was 5 moths old. They have an inseparable bond like no other.

He himself has recently been through a very traumatic experience. She sent him to be saddle broke by a “trainer” in another state. Upon getting him back, he was nearly starved! She had to rehab him over the past year. In the beginning, it was VERY touch and go, the vet did not know if he would even make it through the night. My daughter was terrified he would die! She said she wouldn’t know what to do if she lost him, he has helped her in so many ways. She worked very hard on getting all his weight back on him slowly as well as rebuilding his muscles. She had to buy some pretty expensive feeds and supplements for him. She stopped at nothing.

She said she would do whatever she needed to do because he has ALWAYS been there for her when she needed him. She said he is there at any moment, any time of the day or night and he deserves the same. We are happy to say he’s doing much better now!” —Michelle C.
