“Back to Wine is an off-the-track Thoroughbred. He may not have been the best runner, but what he has helped me achieve is better than winning the Triple Crown.

I was born with a birth defect called Klipple-Feil Syndrome, though didn’t know until I was in my late 20s, after a brutal attack on the job set the issues in motion.

When Back to Wine (Vinny) came into my life, I had given up hope of participating in the horse events I was able to previously do. However, Vinny is so willing and wants to keep me safe—while trying anything asked of him.

He has helped me to do almost every event around. People just don’t believe a 17.3- hand OTTB and person with my issues can do what we do and succeed. Without Vinny coming into my life, I don’t think I would be as mobile as I am—a gift that allows me to go out in the world, which, best of all, lets me promote second-career Thoroughbreds by showing off what people are capable of with the help of a special horse.” —Christina K.
